About the National Urban Digital Mission (NUDM):

The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) instituted the Centre for Digital Governance (CDG) to operationalise the ambitious National Urban Digital Mission (NUDM) to contribute to quality of life for our citizens by way of inclusive and accessible digital solutions. CDG will use the three pillars of NUDM (People, Process, Platforms) to activate digital service delivery and ease of access across all cities and towns in India by 2024. NUDM will create a shared digital infrastructure as a public good through open source, customisable digital urban platforms, building blocks, data infrastructure to manage the core digital urban data, and the infrastructure required for its seamless exchange. Position: Jr. Frontend Developer

We are seeking a talented Junior Frontend Developer in building responsive, user-friendly web applications. You will work closely with designers and backend engineers to create seamless and high-performing user interfaces.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop user-facing features for web applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
2. Collaborate with back-end developers and designers to implement innovative solutions.
3. Optimize application performance and ensure responsiveness across various devices and browsers.
4. Translate design mockups and wireframes into functional, visually appealing interfaces.
5. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, continually enhancing skills and knowledge.
6. Conduct code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to maintain code quality and stability.
7. Work closely with the UI/UX design team to bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation.
8. Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand- ups, and retrospective meetings.
9. Implement best practices for front-end development, including accessibility, SEO, and responsive design principles.
10. Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, providing updates on project progress and addressing any concerns or issues.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. Proven experience of 1-3 Years as a Frontend Developer or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing past projects.
3. Proficiency       in         HTML, CSS,     and       JavaScript,        with     experience        in         modern frameworks/libraries such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
4. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
5. Solid    understanding   of         responsive        design  principles          and       cross-browser compatibility.
6. Experience with front-end build tools/task runners (e.g., Webpack, Gulp) and package managers (e.g., npm, Yarn).
7. Knowledge of UI/UX design principles and a keen eye for detail.

Desired Skill:

1. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
2. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
3. Experience with testing frameworks and automated testing practices is a plus.
4. Strong analytical, conceptualization, and communication skills, good understanding of market research techniques and data analytics, outstanding attention to detail.
5. Skilled at stakeholder management, and coordinating teams and multi-party processes
6. Experience of working at Central/State/PSU/NGO level in the urban sector
7. Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with and manage expectations of senior executives/experts and their staff.
8. Experience in developing preliminary communications strategies and campaigns for government stakeholders
9. Entrepreneurial spirit,    including          the        ability   to         work    independently   and autonomously.

Location: Based out of the office at NIUA, New Delhi, with travel to various Indian states as and when required.

Remuneration: At par with the industry standards, depending on experience and skills. Proof of past remuneration (last received salary/monthly contract payment) will be required.

Notice Period: Notice period for termination from either side will be 30 (thirty) days or salary in lieu of.
